What is EAGALA?
EAGALA stands for Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. It is a professional model of equine-assisted psychotherapy and personal development where clients interact with horses in ground-based (non-riding) activities to explore emotions, behaviors, and relationships.
How is this different from traditional talk therapy?
Unlike traditional therapy, EAGALA sessions are experiential and involve hands-on interaction with horses. This approach helps clients gain insights and make connections more quickly by engaging their body and mind together, often without needing to “talk it out.”
Do I need to have experience with horses?
No horse experience is needed! All activities are conducted on the ground, and our team ensures a safe, supportive environment for every participant.
Who can benefit from EAGALA sessions?
EAGALA can benefit children, teens, and adults experiencing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, trauma, relationship issues, and more. It’s also effective for team building, leadership development, and personal growth.
Are sessions done individually or in groups?
We offer both individual and group sessions. Group options may include families, peers, or specialized therapy groups such as veterans, youth, or first responders.
Who facilitates the sessions?
Every session is facilitated by a certified EAGALA team, which includes a licensed mental health professional and an equine specialist. Both work together to ensure a safe, therapeutic experience.
Do participants ride the horses?
No. All EAGALA sessions are ground-based. This keeps the focus on metaphor, interaction, and emotional insight, rather than riding skills.
What should I wear to a session?
Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Closed-toed shoes are required for safety. Avoid sandals, flip-flops, or any open footwear.
Is it safe?
Yes. Safety is our top priority. Our horses are carefully selected and monitored, and all sessions follow strict EAGALA safety guidelines.
Will insurance cover this therapy?
Coverage depends on your insurance provider and policy. We can provide you with documentation to submit for possible reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company to confirm.

Outside of insurance, we accept cash, credit/debit. and electronic payments
